Inma Project Families Day
INMA net gather several Spanish research groups that take part in a project whose aim is studying the role played by the most important environment pollutants in the air, the water and the diet during pregnancy and during the beginning of life as well as their effects on children growth and development. CREAL (Centro de Investigación en Epidemiología Ambiental) is one of the research groups taking part on INMA Project; Fundació Roger Torné collaborates with them financing part of their activities due to the importance of these investigations on children health.
Our relationship with CREAL has taken us to discover a pretty unknown reality and, for sure, not fully recognized, namely, there are hundreds of families taking part on this project in an absolutely altruistic way. In Inspira, we try to make them known through an article, but we also wanted to pay a tribute to them in order to thank them for their work towards society which they carry out in an absolutely selfless way. Fundació Roger Torné thinks it is an extension of the job we carry out in the social area, since they are an example showing how people can behave from an individual area in order to protect children’s health and future diseases.
Almost 700 families in Sabadell collaborate with CREAL by participating on this research. This is why INMA project and Fundació Roger Torné together with Sabadell City Hall, we all decided to thank publicly that participation by celebrating Inma Project Families Day which has been designed especially for them.
The event took place last June 5th in the Casal Pere Quart in Sabadell. That afternoon, the invited children enjoyed a puppet show carried out by Compañía Marduix. In the meanwhile, their parents were able to attend the talk “Risks for health on a daily life: from feeding to air and water pollution” which will be lectured by some INMA Project researchers.
To finish we all shared a nice afternoon snack.
