A tale on childhood health and environment

The conclusions given away from investigations on the effect that atmospheric pollution has in health are as clear as overwhelming. In this issue we tackle some of these consequences. The situation is alarming and this is why organizations such as G8 find always a round table where explaining intentions that become just that, intentions. Perhaps in order to avoid us to think that they don’t think. Time will show if they are working, apart from speaking.

On the contrary, initiatives as the ones we find in Healthy Cities, without noise or fuss, make possible for all of us to work for our closest environment turning it into a place where kids can grow safely. Like Margarita, the brave main character in the second Mapendo tale. Meeting the tale author has been a sheer pleasure for us all since, thanks to her, a book on the relationship between health and environment will reach the children this year.
