Mapendo children’s tales

Mapendo children’s tales Collection has been conceived by Fundació Roger Torné with the purpose of collecting funds for Mapendo House project, in Butembo (Democratic Republic of Congo) and guaranteeing its continuity in future.

All the funds raised by selling these books will be assigned to finance this project.

“¡Pintar el aire!”

“¡Pintar el aire!” is the first tale in the Mapendo Collection. It has been written and illustrated by Mabel Pierola and the foreword by Ana Mª Matute. It has been published in collaboration with Ediciones Bellaterra.

“¡Pintar el aire!” is the request made by a teacher to her pupils one day. Through its words and drawings for children, although full of wisdom, we travel across a path where we discover the reason why air is so important on our lives.

“Margarita quiere fabricar Montañas”

The Collection Mapendo second tale is the winner in the Children Tales Mapendo Prize, whose winner was Amaia Cia Abascal. Once again the drawings were made by Mabel Piérola and the foreword was written by Araceli Segarra.

Margarita is a very whiner girl. Her parents take her to the doctor in order to know what is wrong. After auscultating her thoroughly, the doctor says: The thing is that Margarita quiere fabricar montañas (“Margarita wants to build mountains”)
